The Rise of Female Rockers & Metalheads

First, they tried to look like them in the glam-band era.

Then, they tried to hook up with them. (Well, that’s been going on ever since rock n’ roll was invented.)

They are no longer the brainless beauties who find a way behind the curtain and into the dressing room.

They are no longer the ones being dragged to a rock concert, they are the ones dragging their significant other to the concert.

That’s right. This is 2012 and chicks are popping up as band members. These gals are not just holding down vocal duties, but some are playing instruments as well.

One of the most popular musicians in the world has decided to take a group of girls on the road as his backing band. This musician is none other than Jack White. In a recent interview, he gave details about his upcoming solo tour. He has around 10 or 12 musicians who travel with him on the road and back him up while he plays the guitar and sings. In this interview, he mentioned how he decides who will perform with him while he eats breakfast the morning of the gig. In a performance on a German late-night talk show, Jack White decided to have an all-female ensamble back him up as he performed one of his newest songs off of Blunderbuss, “Sixteen Saltines.” There are girls playing a variety of instruments as Jack sings and shreds his guitar. You can see the performance with the all-girl band, by clicking on Rolling Stone.
